Yes, it was open, and the Sabbath's collection lay there with all its shining invitation.
He tried making up the dollar and a half out of the dimes and half-dimes.

What a lot of half-dimes it took! But when he used the quarters and dimes, how much smaller the piles were.

Only two quarters and five dimes made up the dollar, and the pile in the drawer looked pretty much the same as before.

Another quarter-dollar withdrawn from the drawer made little difference.
