But she did not enlighten Mrs Gildea much about her doings with Colin McKeith, and presently said she must go and make her peace with Rosamond.

McKeith accompanied her--naturally, since he had to row her back to the Government House landing.

There was something in the manner of the pair that Mrs Gildea could not understand.

Of course, Colin was in love--that she knew already.

But was Biddy merely playing with the big primitive-souled bushman--or was it possible that she, too, could be in love?
