I called immediately on the agents, and obtained information in relation to the details of the voyage, and commenced making the necessary preparations.
Several merchants were interested in this contemplated voyage, but the business was transacted by the mercantile house of Messrs.

Ropes and Pickman, on Central Wharf.

This firm had not been long engaged in business.

Indeed, both the partners were young men, but they subsequently became well known to the community.

Benjamin T.Pickman became interested in politics, and rendered good service in the legislature.
