Civilization, enlightenment,--they are vague terms, hollow sounds.

Never fear that the world will reason as I do.

Action will never be stagnant while there are such things as gold and power.

The vessel will move on--let the galley-slaves have it to themselves.

What I have seen of life convinces me that progress is not always improvement.
