They were quite dry, but, as we suspected, there was a good deal of water in a rocky gully close by.

About two miles before we reached here we passed a rock hole full of water, about sixty gallons.

I left a note telling my brother to camp here on Sunday night, and to follow on our tracks on Monday.

We continued on about five miles, and camped not far from Mount Charles, without water for the horses; but they were not thirsty.

So far we have been most fortunate, although there is very little to fall back on should we be unable to proceed; in fact, as soon as the surface water dries up it will be impossible.
