We are, however, three days in advance of the party, and if we can get enough for our two riding-horses we shall be able to stop them before there is any great danger, although we may lose some of the horses.
7th.
Steered South-South-East for about four miles to two large rock holes seen by Windich and myself on our former trip, but found them quite dry, as before.

Continued on South-East towards the hills seen by us formerly, and, after travelling about ten miles, got a fine view of the country, which looked splendid.

High hills and ranges as far as could be seen to the south and east, and we thought all our troubles were over.

We pushed on about East-South-East to a high hill about ten miles off, over red sand-hills covered with spinifex.

Country of the most miserable description.
