147/237 I have since learnt that these ranges were seen by Mr.Giles, and were named the Warburton Ranges. We returned unsuccessful about 8 o'clock. Close to where we found our horses we found a tree with the bark cut off one side of it with an AXE which was sharp. We were sure it was done by a white man, as the axe, even if possessed by a native (which is very improbable), would be blunt. We are now in the country traversed by Mr.Gosse, although I am unable to distinguish any of the features of the country, not having a map with me, and not knowing the latitude. |
