We went back and found Taylor's mare, and brought her slowly to camp.

We are now safe again, and I must give the horses a few days' rest.

The weather has been hot, and if we had not found this spring, not more than five horses would have lasted out the day.

I will send back and get the flour, as it is only five miles off.

The party were all very glad to see such a fine spring, as their position was very dangerous, having only three gallons of water with them altogether.

Rested at Elder Spring.
