The weather is heavy and cloudy, and I hope to get some rain shortly.

We slept without any fire, but it was not very cold.
17th.
As the horses did not ramble far, we got off early and followed along and through the ranges East-South-East about, the distance being eighteen miles.

Passed some splendid clay-pans quite dry.

The flats around the ranges are very grassy, and look promising eastwards, but we cannot find any water.

Kangaroos and birds are numerous.
