Explorations in Australia

CHAPTER 3
61/84

The charter-party has been carried out entirely to my satisfaction.

With the assistance of the crew of the Adur I have repainted the Red and Black Beacons.

The latter had been blown down; we, however, re-erected it firmly again.

I have also erected a flagstaff, thirty feet high, near camp on west side of Delissier sand-hills, with a copper-plate nailed on it, with its position, my name, and that of the colony engraved on it.
We are now within 140 miles from the nearest Adelaide station.

I will write to you as soon as I reach there.
