She could not protest; it was too final; besides, they were arriving; the cab stopped.

Vincy came to the door.
'Welcome to Normanhurst!' cried Vincy, with unnecessary facetiousness, giving them a slightly anxious glance.

He thought Edith had more colour than usual.
