Longman, and before he left the room, he repaid to Mr.Murray the sum he had received for the Memoirs, together with the interest during the time that the purchase-money had remained in his possession.
The statements made in the press, as to Lord Byron's Memoirs having been burnt, occasioned much public excitement, and many applications were made to Mr.Murray for information on the subject.

Amongst those who made particular inquiry was Mr.Jerdan, of the _Literary Gazette,_ who inclosed to Mr.Murray the paragraph which he proposed to insert in his journal.
