The Anti-Slavery Examiner, Omnibus

PREFACE
129/149

In the afternoon, a bear with her two cubs came to a large chestnut tree near where I lay.

She crept up the tree, went out on one of the limbs, and broke off several twigs in trying to shake down the nuts.

The day was long and tedious.

As soon as it was dark, I once more resumed my journey.

But fatigue and the want of food and sleep rendered me almost incapable of further effort.
