CHAPTER XI

No one, I repeat, has placed any obstacles in the way of my daily peregrinations.

I have no need to occupy myself about the material part of my existence.

My meals are brought to me regularly, direct from the kitchen of the Count d'Artigas--I cannot accustom myself to calling him by any other name.

The food leaves nothing to be desired, thanks to the provisions that the _Ebba_ brings on her return from each voyage.
It is very fortunate, too, that I have been supplied with all the writing materials I require, for during my long hours of idleness I have been able to jot down in my notebook the slightest incidents that have occurred since I was abducted from Healthful House, and to keep a diary day by day.

As long as I am permitted to use a pen I shall continue my notes.
