Our friends round about here [with a wave of the hand, indicating the country side]--our old folks--whenever they got a guinea put it out of sight, made a hoard, hid it in a stocking, or behind a brick in the chimney.

Ha! ha! Consequently their operations were always restricted to the same identical locality--no scope, sir, no expansion.

Now my plan is--invest every penny.

Make every shilling pay for the use of half a crown, and turn the half-crown into seven and sixpence.
Credit is the soul of business.
