I can understand how she took you through to Jonesboro; that was necessary.

But all the rest is a puzzle.

Did you know she was engaged to Captain Le Gaire ?" "Yes; but evidently she did not think it would help him any to betray me, and she was careful enough I should not escape in time to do any harm to your army.
