As soon as the troops arrived from Elatia, Quinctius set out to lead them towards Argos.

When near Cleonae he was met by the praetor, Aristaenus, with ten thousand Achaean foot and one thousand horse; and having joined forces, they pitched their camp at a small distance from thence.

Next day they marched down into the plains of Argos, and fixed their post about four miles from that city.
