Then there were various structures scattered far and near for the different trades, since everything that was used in the way of clothing and food had to be raised or manufactured at the Mission.
"The chapel grew too small within a year from the time it was dedicated, Sunday, May 21, 1787.

It was therefore enlarged in 1788, but by the year 1792 this, also, proved too small.

Converts were coming in rapidly.

The old structure was then taken down, and a magnificent edifice took its place in 1793.

Its size was 25 by 125 feet.
