She also stated to Colonel Carleton the noble deeds of Paul Guidon, and of his loyalty to the king.

She told of his death and of the destitute condition of his young widow.
Some months after Mrs.Godfrey had sailed for home, Governor Carleton was told that the widow of Paul Guidon was soon to be married.

He sent to a friend of Mrs.Godfrey for information, and found the report to be true.

In a few days the Governor called at the house of the friend and handed to her three guineas, to be expended for Little Mag's comfort.
This friend Mag usually called in to see when she came to the settlement.

She was told of the Governor's thoughtful kindness.
