"I should have thought five-and-thirty, or perhaps forty--" "A gentleman, sir, cannot condescend to bargain," said I, with mournful dignity.

"Farewell!" I waved my hand, and crossed over the way.
"Don't do that!" cried Mr.Batterbury.
