But the girls were quite alarmed, Jessie and Laura especially.

After the excitement of the bronco riding, the boys were glad enough to take it easy for several days.

Belle had a tennis court and a croquet ground, and they played each game for hours at a time.

The girls were all good players and won the majority of the games.
"Tennis and croquet are all well enough when you have nice girls to play with," remarked Roger.
