They were some distance behind, but the words could be plainly heard.

If they have any complaint to make they can make it to Cacama, and he will answer them." The boat was soon out of hearing of its pursuer, who fell farther and farther behind, and was a good mile away when they landed at Tezcuco.
"Run the boat up and lay her by the side of the others," Cuitcatl said to the rowers.

"Then go at once to your homes, and say naught to anyone about the journey you have made.
