He was attacked by a fever shortly afterward of which he died.

During his last hours, in his delirium, he was repeating the scenes of this visit to his room.

His father thought that the indignity caused his death.

Another was taken out from his room in his night clothes, tied into a chair and left on the public commons in the cold.

It was a long time before he was discovered and rescued.
