Did I speak of folly?
Listen, and I will tell you quite another tale.
Perhaps when you have heard it you will not be too hasty to run and teach The Poor.

Perhaps you will admit that The Poor may have something to teach you.
Before we had been two years in America, my sister Frieda was engaged to be married.

This was under the old dispensation: Frieda came to America too late to avail herself of the gifts of an American girlhood.

Had she been two years younger she might have dodged her circumstances, evaded her Old-World fate.

She would have gone to school and imbibed American ideas.
