Meinik has already killed a chicken, and will make it into broth for you.

It will be a change, for you, after your diet of rice.

The cooking was excellent, for the first three or four days; but it fell off sadly.

That was one of the reasons why I gave way to your wish to start at once.

You have done wonderfully well, but a constant diet of rice is not quite the thing for building up a sick man.
"Now, I am going to write a few lines to the general to say that you have got safely down, but will need at least another week before you are able to sit on a horse.
