In London she occupied Berkeley House, which stood in Piccadilly, on the site now covered by Devonshire House.

[189] Her income was secured by Act of Parliament; but no punishment which it was in the power of the Crown to inflict on her was spared.

Her guard of honour was taken away.

The foreign ministers ceased to wait upon her.

When she went to Bath the Secretary of State wrote to request the Mayor of that city not to receive her with the ceremonial with which royal visitors were usually welcomed.
